"Since you didn’t post yesterday for ten minutes, does that mean you’ll spend 20 minutes posting Friday?"
I went to Pomona for the SCIAC Head Coach’s meeting yesterday. We cover all the rule changes, watch some videos, talk about coaching stuff, wish each other luck, and take-off. Pretty low-key, but there were a few things:
- Congratulations to Coach and Mrs. Krich at the University of La Verne on the birth of their son a month or so ago. Don’t ever lose site that that is more important than anything related to the word “football”;
- Saw CLU alum, Coach Semones from Occidental. Welcome to the conference, and I’m stoked that we’re not the only ones that wear aloha shirts in the office. I recommend doing it more than once a week, though;
- Coach Stratton at Whittier replaces Coach Caron from Pomona as the Chairperson. Big shoes to fill. Literally. Roger has big feet;
- Noticed Coach Maynard at Redlands had-on a new style of glasses, they looked good.
I like the coaches in the SCIAC and hope that every one of them goes 8-1, with the one loss coming against us. I really respect that some teams have stepped-up their scheduling efforts and are playing some quality competition. That is commendable; we have to get out there and challenge ourselves, win some of those games, and continue to work to promote the conference and elevate our programs, top to bottom.
We’re a week out from practicing. I know others in the league hit the field this weekend, best wishes to all for a safe and productive camp and pre-season. We’ll see you soon enough.
